Coming Together for Macmillan Cancer Support

On Friday, 26th September, we, at The Nostell Estate, hosted our very first Macmillan Cancer Support Coffee Morning in the Meridian Building. It was a day of friendly faces, good conversation and plenty of generosity, all in support of a cause that means a great deal to so many.
Why We Came Together
Earlier this year, our colleague Peter was diagnosed with cancer and experienced the care and compassion of the Macmillan nurses first-hand. Thankfully, Peter is now on the road to recovery, but the experience left a lasting impression. As a team, we wanted to show our appreciation for the support he received and help ensure others can benefit from the same care in the future.
Coffee, Cakes and Community
The Meridian Building quickly filled with staff, tenants, members of the wider Nostell community, and visitors who came along to support the morning. Homemade cakes and buns were shared across the tables, while a raffle with prizes, including a £50 M&S voucher from the team, a generous hamper from Oracle Vision, bottles of fizz and more, kept spirits high throughout the day. Lord St Oswald also made a personal and generous donation, adding to the collective effort.
No one was left out of the occasion, even our four-legged friends, who were treated to their own bowl of snacks. It was a simple but thoughtful touch that reflected the welcoming atmosphere of the day.
Making a Difference
Together, the event raised an incredible £811.30 for Macmillan Cancer Support. Every slice of cake bought, raffle ticket entered, and donation given will go towards funding the vital services that Macmillan provides, from nurses offering care to families, to helplines giving guidance when it’s needed most.
Events like this show the strength of community spirit at Nostell. They’re also a reminder that small acts, when combined, can have a big impact.
Thank You
We’re proud of what was achieved and grateful to everyone who supported the morning, whether by baking, donating prizes, attending, or simply stopping by for a coffee. If you weren’t able to join us but would like to contribute, you can still support Macmillan’s work by donating directly through their website: www.macmillan.org.uk/donate.
